The Windows OS has a built-in Administrator account. In Windows 11/10 and Windows Server 2016, the built-in Administrator account is disabled at the time of Windows installation and another local account is created which is the member of the Administrators group.

The built-in Administrator account is also called the Super Administrator account. If we compare the built-in Administrator account with the Local Administrator account, the built-in Administrator account has elevated privileges. This means when you perform the administrative tasks, you will not get the UAC prompt. Apart from that, if you want to do some serious troubleshooting on your Windows machine or if you want to recover your main account or another user account, you can use the built-in Administrator account.

Because the built-in Administrator account does not show the UAC prompt, any application can have full control over your system. Therefore, running this account on a regular basis can be risky. The administration of President Barack Obama is deporting undocumented immigrants in unprecedented numbers and has intensified inspections in hundreds of companies that appealed to “illegal cheap labour”, according to The Washington Post.

“The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, estimates that in the current fiscal year it will be deporting 400.000 people which is 10% more than in 2008 when the administration of President George W Bush and 25% above 2007” said the newspaper, adding that the “companies inspection rhythm has increased almost four times since the last year of the Bush administration.

According to ICE numbers in fiscal 2008 the US government deported 369.221 persons of which 114.415 had committed some kind of crime. In fiscal 2009 the number climbed to 387.790 of which 136.126 had criminal records.

Since the beginning of fiscal 2010 last October and until June 7, the number of deported persons reached 227.163 of which 113.453 with criminal records.

The repression intensification is part of the greater effort by the Obama administration to enforce existing legislation and according to the Post “is partly geared to obtain Republican support for an integral reform of the immigration system”.

ICE director John Morton is quoted by the Post saying that in the current fiscal year which ends September 30, more than 400.000 people are to be deported from the US including those forced to leave or those who accept to do it voluntarily.

The Obama administration has left aside the Bush administration approach which consisted in spectacular and publicized raids on factories or businesses that employed undocumented immigrants, with hundreds of arrests. So far this year only 765 workers were arrested at their working places compared with 5.100 in 2008, according to ICE.

How Table Tennis Has Shaped My Approach To Business

Wai Wong is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Serviceaide, a global provider of enterprise service management solutions.

It has often been reported that some 95% of Fortune 500 CEOs played competitive sports at some point in their lives. For me, dedication to my sport continues to this day, and I believe it has paid significant dividends in my life as a business executive and entrepreneur.

I started playing table tennis when I was 12, hitting balls back and forth with my neighbors, cousins and friends. My game has grown with me. It has evolved to a higher degree of technical competence every year, and yet I still have so much further to go. I continue to learn more every time I step onto the court with another player. My No. 1 achievement so far is winning the 2019 Over 60 U.S. Open Table Tennis Championship.

Competitive table tennis has helped me in my business life in so many ways. It’s strengthened my mental focus, physical and mental stamina, competitive willpower, and ability to think strategically and clearly in pressure moments and situations. When running a company and dealing with business challenges—from meeting technology deadlines, solving business problems, and negotiating acquisitions and customer commercial licenses to working with employees and team members, all these capabilities can and do come into play.

It’s taught me there is always more to learn, always the requirement to expand your abilities. There is a continuous need to hone your skills, to practice and perfect. To remain competitive in table tennis, a player needs to continually maintain an open mind and assimilate new perspectives. You need to learn from your mistakes, why they happened, how to avoid them in the future and apply unique strengths in different situations.

The sheer volume of different playing styles and variations of equipment available make the sport somewhat unpredictable and challenging, especially at competitive levels. For more advanced players, the game evolves into a blitz chess type of mental activity, where you have to come up with split-second decisions, following and even updating your strategy to defeat your opponent. Everything comes into play: your strengths and weaknesses versus the opponent, styles of play, physical capabilities, even the equipment you are playing with and against. Every match resembles a duel, requiring extremely quick reflexes and split-second decision-making.

There are so many ways to win or lose a match, and players need to do everything in their power to develop a winning strategy and approach. They need to develop a big picture for winning the match and determine the steps it will take to get there. It’s critical to scout your competition and how your technical abilities, strengths and weaknesses match up against the competition. Develop a realistic and truthful SWOT analysis (just as you should in your business) and strive for repeatable execution.

Yet every game plan is tested in the heat of battle. I’ve learned to reach back to past matches and practice sessions to quickly adjust during a match. Being proactive, mentally flexible and adaptive need to be core competencies!

The physical demands of my sport have also helped me immensely in business. Playing table tennis at a competitive level is a full-body workout. I normally change shirts at least twice during a match or a practice session because of the sweat it creates. Before you begin even playing or practicing, there’s a need for stretching exercises to warm up the body. Business can be a grueling experience, including long, hard hours and plenty of stress. The conditioning I’ve developed through table tennis gives me the stamina to persevere.

There are other things table tennis has helped me learn that apply to business:

• Respect everyone! Be it a beginner or an expert. The same goes for life and business.

• Starting and changing always looks difficult, sometimes even hopeless—until you start working at it. In life and in business, I’ve come to understand that starting up and making changes is always difficult. However, putting in the time and effort will help you succeed. Know what is working and what isn’t. Be aware and open to changing your approach as needed. Remain open-minded to opportunities when they present themselves in your game. The same applies to business. Be sensitive to market dynamics and anticipate the need or opportunity to tweak your product road map or approach.

• It’s not enough to simply show up. Always play to learn. It brings you and your team the focus they need to win and helps clarify the steps you need to get there.

• Don’t let excuses—whether it be a lack of infrastructure or the right racket—be reasons to lose your focus on practice and development. If you want it to happen, you will make it happen, irrespective of the situation. Don’t let excuses hold you back. Focus on what you can do to move forward.

• The disciplines of time, commitment and perseverance are lessons you learn in every sport. And these lessons stay with you for life. Enjoy the journey.

Over the course of my professional career, I’ve held senior executive positions and led major business units for large technology companies. I’ve founded and run successful startups, including my current company, Serviceaide. Playing sports, particularly table tennis, has helped me prepare for and achieve my goals. Competitive sports teach you a lot about yourself. It all boils down to how hard you are willing to work to make yourself better to compete effectively.

Responsibility Center Management

Responsibility Center Management (RCM) is a budgeting model under which revenue-generating units are wholly responsible for managing their own revenues and expenditures. With Fiscal Year 2022, Drexel University has adopted the RCM model, with plans for full implementation by Fiscal Year 2023. The RCM budget model offers numerous advantages over Drexel’s traditional, incremental model of budgeting, including:

  • Increased transparency into budget decisions.
  • Enhanced stewardship of funds.
  • Incentives for academic entrepreneurship.
  • A data-based foundation for resource allocations.

Guiding Principles

To ensure the success of the University within the RCM model, the RCM development and implementation process has been guided by several key principals:

  • Common Good: The model focuses on the greater good of the University instead of the individual units, including what is best for our students, academic and scholarly excellence and the overall health and sustainability of the University.
  • Transparency: The model aligns with the University’s strategic goals with allocation methodologies that are clear, understandable and auditable.
  • Clarity: The model prioritizes simplicity with easily understood rules that allow units to maximize performance and reap the rewards of sound financial stewardship and strong performance on strategic priorities.
  • Innovation: The model provides significant opportunity for innovative ideas to be piloted and implemented.

History of RCM Implementation

Drexel’s historical budget model was incremental in nature. In its simplest form, it rolled units’ prior year operating budgets forward and either added or subtracted some amount of funding to those figures. This approach did not tie activity levels (e.g., enrollments, credit hour production, research activity, etc.) directly to funding and therefore sometimes resulted in non-equitable and/or non-transparent funding allocations. The redesigned RCM model is intended to remedy these issues and utilize a data-driven approach to resource allocation. The University’s transition to the RCM model began with a 2012 review of Drexel’s administrative processes, performed by an outside firm, and has had multiple iterations leading up to a fully revised model to be implemented in Fiscal Year 2023.

Recent Updates

In late 2019, the Provost’s Finance Group was formed, comprising leadership from the Provost’s Office and the Office of Budget and Financial Planning, with the goal of fully implementing the RCM model. The Provost’s Finance Group later joined with administrative and financial leadership from four colleges and schools as well as the Faculty Senate Budget, Planning and Development Committee to form the RCM Working Group.

In spring 2021, the Provost’s Finance Group began meeting with every college and school to discuss recent revisions to the RCM model, as well as the work that remains to be done. While the previous RCM model allocated four revenue pools with different allocation methodologies, the revised RCM model simplifies this with one revenue pool allocated to three priorities: Research Sponsored Revenue, Scholarly Productivity (Student Credit Hours) and Undergraduate Performance Metrics. Program performance data is normalized across the colleges and schools to account for enrollment disparity using a min/max methodology. The revised RCM model “soft launched” in July for Fiscal Year 2022, and is being fully implemented for Fiscal Year 2023. The next steps in the RCM implementation include setting target margins for each college and school, implementing accountability rules and creating a strategic investment fund.
